The VALZEO project, focused on “Valorisation of agro-industrial waste to obtain zeolite-based composite materials and their use in environmental remediation and biofuel production,” Today held its mid-term review meeting at the Universitat Aut\u00f2noma de Barcelona (UAB).Project Overview:VALZEO aims to transform rice husk ashes (RHAs) into valuable composite materials based on hierarchical zeolites modified by metal oxide nanoparticles (MONs) and metal-organic framework (MOF) materials. These materials serve a dual purpose:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Water Treatment:<\/strong>Removal of pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, and microorganisms from water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Biofuel Production:<\/strong>Catalytic production of biodiesel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Key Highlights from the Meeting<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udfe2 Partners from Spain, Italy, Ireland, and Cuba gathered to discuss project progress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udfe2 Secondment implementation, risk assessment, and ethical considerations were addressed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udfe2 Work Package leaders reported on raw material characterization, functional material development, and validation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udfe2 Impact activities, including dissemination and communication, were emphasized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udfe2 Researchers shared positive experiences and skills gained during secondments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Future Steps:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On June 27, 2024, the project team will revise deliverables, plan tasks, and discuss secondments for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
