VALZEO Project Meeting PM35

VALZEO Holds Mid-Term Progress Meeting to Advance Research, Innovation & International Collaboration

19 November 2025 — The VALZEO consortium held its official Project Meeting (PM35) today, bringing together partners from Europe and Latin America to review progress across all scientific and technological work packages.

The meeting showcased the project’s achievements in transforming agro-industrial waste into high-value zeolite-based materials for water treatment, environmental remediation, and biodiesel production.

WP6 – Project Management

Speaker: Assoc. Prof. Roberto Boada (UAB)
Assoc. Prof. Boada opened the session with an overview of secondment implementation, risk assessment, IPR issues, pending deliverables, and planning for the upcoming UNIVPM Workshop in May 2026.

WP1 – Raw Materials & Silicon Extraction

Speaker: Assoc. Prof.Roberto Boada (UAB)
WP1 highlighted progress on the collection, selection, and characterization of rice husk ash, along with optimization of silicon extraction. Updates included publications, bottlenecks identified, and upcoming secondments.

WP2 – Functional Materials Development

Speaker: Dr. Ángel Rabdel Ruíz-Salvador (UPO)
The WP2 team presented advances in synthesizing functional materials (zeolites, MONs, MOFs) for water treatment and catalysis. The session covered results, secondments, risks, and future developments.

WP3 – Laboratory-Scale Validation

Speaker: Dr. Daniele Caterino (UNIVPM)
WP3 reported progress on validating VALZEO materials under laboratory conditions, including testing protocols, achieved milestones, and remaining challenges before moving to pilot-scale experimentation.

WP4 – Pilot-Scale & Real-Environment Validation

Speaker: Dr. Raquel Montes Martínez (AERIS)
The WP4 update focused on scaling VALZEO materials to pilot installations and testing them under real-environment conditions. Plans for upcoming field activities were also presented .

WP5 – Communication, Dissemination & Networking

Speaker: Dr. Leonardo Piccinetti (SITES)
WP5 summarized progress in communication, dissemination, and stakeholder engagement, including publications, website updates, social media growth, Science Cafés, and upcoming outreach activities.

The meeting concluded with a consortium discussion on upcoming deliverables, risk mitigation, and coordination of final-year activities.
