VALZEO Welcomes EU “Water resilient Europe” Report — A Cornerstone for Circular Water Economy
The EU has just published Water resilient Europe, a landmark report assessing the contribution of Horizon-funded projects to water resilience, circular resource recovery, and sustainable water management. Publications Office of the EU
We are proud that Professor Francesco Fatone, a core VALZEO partner, appears among the contributing editors. This recognition underscores VALZEO’s relevance in advancing innovation for water reuse, sustainable resource recovery, and environmental sustainability.
Why this matters for VALZEO
- The report maps 89 EU-funded projects across water reuse, resource recovery, circular economy and water resilience. Publications Office of the EU
- VALZEO — focusing on converting agricultural waste into zeolite-based materials for water treatment and biodiesel catalysis — aligns directly with the report’s identified priorities: circular bio-economy, water-smart economy and environmental industry transformation. Publications Office of the EU
- The report further confirms that scaling green technologies, deploying nature-based solutions, and harmonizing regulations are key for water-smart growth. These are exactly the targets VALZEO aims to support through materials science, pilot testing, and dissemination.
As we enter the final year of VALZEO, this EU-level recognition strengthens our commitment to deliver:
- scalable, market-ready water treatment solutions,
- resource-efficient and circular materials derived from agro-industrial waste,
- technologies ready for replication and industrial uptake across Europe and beyond.
We thank the European Commission for this comprehensive synthesis and look forward to continuing our contribution to a water-resilient and circular Europe.
