The VALZEO consortium successfully organized the VALZEO International Workshop and Science Café on 21 May 2026 at the Faculty of Engineering of Università Politecnica delle Marche, bringing together researchers, students, project partners, and stakeholders to exchange knowledge on sustainability, environmental engineering, circular economy solutions, and innovative materials for water and air treatment.
The event formed part of the Horizon Europe MSCA Staff Exchanges framework and represented an important dissemination, communication, and stakeholder engagement activity within the VALZEO project.
The workshop opened with a welcome session and networking opportunity, followed by a series of scientific presentations addressing innovative environmental technologies and sustainable materials research.
The first presentation was delivered by Chiara Giosuè from Università Politecnica delle Marche, focusing on advanced materials and technologies designed to improve air quality and support environmental sustainability strategies.
The second session featured Natalia Czerwińska from Łukasiewicz Research Network – Institute of Industrial Chemistry, who presented innovative research on hybrid electrospun adsorbent filters and their potential applications in environmental remediation and advanced filtration systems.
The workshop also included a presentation by Prof. Anna Laura Eusebi from Università Politecnica delle Marche, addressing Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and the contextualization of results for bio-based energy storage materials, highlighting the importance of sustainability evaluation methodologies for emerging environmental technologies.
The event concluded with the VALZEO Science Café entitled “Can Waste Save Our Water? Exploring the Future of Circular Materials and Clean Technologies”, moderated by Leonardo Piccinetti from Sustainable Innovation Technology Services (SITES). The interactive session involved professors, researchers, PhD students, and stakeholders in an open discussion on circular economy innovation, wastewater treatment technologies, resource recovery, and sustainable environmental solutions.
The Science Café created an engaging platform for dialogue between academia, researchers, and young scientists, reinforcing VALZEO’s commitment to societal engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, and dissemination of sustainable innovation.
The VALZEO consortium thanks all speakers, participants, organizers, and stakeholders who contributed to the success of the event and to strengthening international collaboration within the project.
