The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) coordinates VALZEO, a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges project that brings together universities, research centres and companies from Spain, Italy, Ireland, the UK and Cuba.
Since 2023, UAB has led the consortium’s work to turn agro-industrial waste, such as rice husk ash, into zeolite-based materials for water treatment. Through staff exchanges, researchers and staff have moved between partners to share skills, equipment and ideas.
At Ecomondo 2026, VALZEO coordinator Roberto Boada Romero, Associate Professor in Analytical Chemistry at UAB, presents “Innovative materials for removing emerging contaminants from water: insights from the European VALZEO project” (16:20). He also co-chairs the sessions with Massimiliano Sgroi and Daniele Caterino of UNIVPM.
The workshop is the project’s final event. It is a chance to show what four years of cooperation have produced and to connect VALZEO’s research with the companies that could use it.
Join us: Tuesday 3 November 2026, 14:00–17:30, Sala Orchidea, first floor, Hall D6, Rimini Expo Centre.
