At the laboratories of UNIVPM (Università Politecnica delle Marche), research activities under the VALZEO Project are actively advancing. Coordinated by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and funded by the Horizon Europe MSCA program, VALZEO focuses on zeolite-based materials, wastewater treatment, biodiesel production, and the valorisation of rice husk 🌾 — promoting circular economy strategies with global impact.
As part of VALZEO’s international secondment programme, the laboratory is currently hosting:
👩🔬 Acela Diaz de La Osa (University of Havana, Cuba)
👨🔬 Hanwen Luan (PhD Candidate, UAB, Spain)
They are working alongside Daniele Caterino, PhD candidate at UNIVPM and member of WWEELab, who is playing a pivotal role in the synthesis and characterization of zeolite-based materials. His dedication, technical expertise, and practical vision are helping transition lab-scale research to pilot-scale testing, contributing to the project’s goal of real-world application. ♻️
📍 The lab also welcomed a visit from Albert Bartoli Almera (Project Director, AERIS) and Kasia Budkiewicz, who engaged in strategic discussions about scaling up lab experiments and planning for future industrial validation.
The day included the presence of VALZEO’s scientific coordinators:
👨🏫 Prof. Francesco Fatone
👨🏫 Prof. Massimiliano Sgroi
This collaborative initiative showcases a powerful example of international research, circularity, and sustainable innovation, serving the future of clean water technologies across Europe and beyond. 💧🌍
