A Key Responsibility for EU-Funded Projects
The European Commission has released a Starter Kit designed to support Horizon Europe and MSCA-funded projects, like VALZEO in their efforts to share scientific evidence with policymakers at European, national, regional, and local levels.
Throughout a project’s lifetime and beyond, researchers can play a key role in shaping legislation, informing research agendas, and ensuring that policy decisions are grounded in credible, data-driven evidence.
The VALZEO project, funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Staff Exchanges programme, embraces this responsibility by actively engaging with civil society and policymakers, particularly in the areas of waste valorisation, circular economy, water treatment, and biodiesel innovation.
The Starter Kit encourages projects to:
- Understand policy needs and context
- Join forces with stakeholders
- Plan for policy impact early and strategically
- Use clear, timely, and targeted communication channels
As a next step, VALZEO encourages all partners to review the Starter Kit and explore how their findings can help shape evidence-informed policy.
