Empowering PhDs to Become Research Managers
On 20 May 2026, the VALZEO project will host a dedicated Masterclass at Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM), led by Dr. Leonardo Piccinetti (CEO, SITES), focusing on career pathways from PhD to Research Management.
The session introduces Research Management and Administration (RMA) as a strategic role supporting the full research lifecycle—from proposal development to impact and exploitation. Participants will explore how PhD skills such as critical analysis, project coordination, and scientific communication can be translated into RMA competencies.
A key highlight of the Masterclass is the grant writing framework (Excellence–Impact–Implementation), providing practical guidance on building competitive Horizon Europe proposals, avoiding common pitfalls, and structuring impactful projects.
The programme also covers project leadership, risk management (Triple-A approach), and international collaboration, alongside interactive exercises designed to support participants in developing a clear career transition plan.
By combining technical knowledge with practical tools, this initiative reflects VALZEO’s commitment to capacity building, knowledge transfer, and strengthening research impact within the European innovation ecosystem.
