WWEELab | UNIVPM brings Italy’s water sector to the VALZEO table

The Università Politecnica delle Marche (UNIVPM) in Ancona has been a VALZEO partner since the project began in 2023. Its Water and Waste Environmental Engineering Lab (WWEELab) is part of the Department of Science and Engineering of Materials, Environment and Urban Planning (SIMAU).

Over the past four years, UNIVPM has hosted VALZEO researchers on staff exchanges. In spring 2026 it also hosted the project’s international workshop, Science Café and General Assembly in Ancona.

For VALZEO’s final workshop at Ecomondo 2026, the UNIVPM team invited Italy’s water utilities and technology companies to the session. Water utilities, technology providers and researchers will discuss how to remove and monitor emerging contaminants.

Two WWEELab researchers take the stage:

  • Massimiliano Sgroi, Associate Professor, presents “Fluorescence-based monitoring of emerging contaminants and PFAS: an innovative system ready for industrial application” (16:10) and co-chairs the sessions.
  • Daniele Caterino, PhD student, co-chairs the sessions with Massimiliano Sgroi and VALZEO coordinator Roberto Boada Romero.

Join us: Tuesday 3 November 2026, 14:00–17:30, Sala Orchidea, first floor, Hall D6, Rimini Expo Centre.
